Why are you a Secret Society ? We are not, but Lodge Meetings like those of many other groups and committees are private and open only to its members. The rules and aims of Freemasonry are available to the public. Meeting places are known to the public and the venues are often used for non Masonic functions. Members are encouraged to speak openly. What are the Secrets of Freemasonry ? The Secrets of Freemasonry are the traditional modes of recognition by which we communicate to each other. These are used when visiting another Lodge to establish whether a visitor is a Mason or not. Why do you roll up your trouser leg ? We roll up our trouser leg to take part in the three ceremonies, there is nothing sinister in this but it has a symbolic meaning and can be seen as amusing to a non mason. Why are there no women in Masonry ? Freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England has traditionally been restricted to men. The job of a stonemason was for men and the standing of women in the society was different from what it is today. There are now two separate Grand Lodges in England which are restricted to women only. The following have been purchased by kind donations and fund raising from the members, family and friends of Gateway Lodge No: 8474 'LADY GATEWAY' is a 18 hands Shire horse purchased for the use of the Hampshire Riding Therapy Centre in Hensting Lane, Fishers Pond and is mainly used by the center's many disabled riders.
'THE GATEWAY' Wendy House at Naomi House, this wonderful play house is enjoyed by the children who have hours of fun and was so large it nearly needed planning permission
